Girls’ Counselor - Family Renewal Program
REPORTS TO: Girls’ Program Director
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Full-time. Exempt.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Are you passionate about working with children and their families? Would you enjoy helping clients throughout the process of crisis intervention, mediation, prevention, and development? If so, Eagle Ranch has a new position that may be the perfect fit for you. The Girls’ Counselor for the family renewal program provides clinical oversight for 12 to 18 residents and their families. This position provides services to each family assigned as they move through the family renewal process. The Girls’ Counselor will work with a child and her family with the hope of facilitating the successful completion of our family renewal program by meeting graduation goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
INTAKE
A. Reviews admission files presented by the Intake Department.
B. Conducts a counseling interview with family applicants and provides direction regarding acceptance.
C. Coordinates placement services with the Admissions Department.

PROGRAM/ COUNSELING
A. Provides oversight and clinical supervision of 12 to 18 residents through individual, group, and family counseling, including multi-family groups. Assists the Program Director in developing and training Houseparents and Program Assistants in their roles in the family renewal process.
a. In conjunction with the Program Director, foster ability of Houseparents and Program Assistants to build therapeutic relationships with children and families.
b. In conjunction with the Program Director, teach and provide oversight of the program in each home, including group process, limits and structure, appropriate discipline, appropriate supervision, encouragement, and collaboration with parents.
c. Work with families as they work towards achieving graduation goals. Makes appropriate referrals for services needed after discharge from the program.
d. Collaborate with the Case Manager in completing treatment plans.
e. Collaborate with the Continued Care Counselor to check the progress of each resident and family through the Treatment Plan Check-In Process. f. Collaborate with Clinical Trainer and Program Director to clinically supervise each resident and family as they work towards achieving program and personal graduation goals.
B. Works cooperatively with school staff as needed to ensure appropriate services for children and families.
C. Works cooperatively with community agencies as needed to ensure continuity of care and services.
D. Works cooperatively with other Eagle Ranch staff, including directors, counselors, administrative staff, etc. to ensure effective delivery of services and needed communication regarding the status of residents and families as they progress through the family renewal process.
E. Participates in regular group meetings with the Senior Director of the Program, Program Director(s), Clinical Trainer, Intake Staff, and fellow Counselors to discuss and review cases and make decisions.
F. Provides oversight of compliance with regulations of the Office of Residential Child Care. Takes the lead on submitting incident reports to the Office of Residential Child Care and/or Child Protective Services when warranted.
G. Responsible for maintaining all clinical notes related to a resident and family in Best Notes. (2 family session notes, 2 parent group notes, 2 peer group notes per month, and a monthly resident log).
H. Provide clinical advice and support during a crisis or sensitive clinical moments where home life staff need assistance.
I. Facilitate peer groups and parent groups in the home with the assistance of the home life team members.
J. Facilitate monthly family sessions with each family and build individual rapport with residents, offering individual counseling as needed.
K. Family session flexibility – offering evening hours one night a week and some Saturday morning and/or virtual counseling options if needed.
L. Develop an in-depth understanding of the resident and family’s genogram, family roles, grid, and dysfunctional pattern and develop a family goals game plan of interventions that will promote positive change.
M. Provide insight to home life staff regarding family systems, structural therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, choice/consequence and parenting styles.
N. Complete other responsibilities assigned by the Program Director.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Licensed Professional Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker; Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related field.
2. Strong understanding of child development and family and group dynamics.
3. Strong understanding and ability to implement systemic, strategic, and structural work with families.
4. Willing to work split schedules of mornings and evenings on occasion to accommodate family sessions, parent groups, and Parent Insight Nights.
5. Ability to relate to a wide range of individuals from a social, economic, emotional, and spiritual standpoint.
6. Ability to share one’s faith and integrate it into professional duties.
7. Experience in counseling children, adolescents, and their families is required.
8. Skilled group facilitator with a thorough understanding of group dynamics.

TECHNOLOGY: 1. Ability to understand and use Microsoft Windows and internet-based case management programs.
OTHER:
1. Good physical and psychological health as assessed by employment exams and job performance.
2. Good writing and verbal skills.
3. Able to manage a flexible schedule.
4. Required to be available for crisis intervention on an ongoing basis for three homes and for the entire program on a rotating basis.
