JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Life Coach Supervisor DIVISION: FBFC Georgia

REPORTS TO: Director of Youth Opportunities DEPARTMENT: Youth Opportunities

SUPERVISION OF: Life Coaches CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

JOB FUNCTION:

The Life Coach Supervisor will supervise assigned Life Coach staff to deliver higher education, life skills, wraparound services, housing and career development services to former foster youth ages 18+ in order to advance and achieve Youth Opportunities and Fostering Success Act outcomes for eligible Georgia residents who have aged out of foster care.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Assists Management to recruit and hire Youth Opportunities Life Coach staff by analyzing candidate qualifications: participating in interviews, hiring decisions and supervising employees consistent with Best Christian Workplace standards in consultation with management.
• Maintains Youth Opportunities Life Coach job results by coaching, counseling and disciplining supervised staff: planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Supports the Youth Opportunities Strategic vision and objectives by communicating with all supervised employees and stakeholders.
• Provides quality leadership to direct reports by demonstrating a relational and empowering management style: incorporating wise biblical stewardship of all resources and responding to stakeholder requests.

Core Responsibilities and Expectations

Maintain Youth Opportunities operating objectives

• Present to community providers and DFCS county offices as requested.
• Assist youth and foster parents with FAFSA and Tuition Waiver applications.
• Build and maintain relationships with technical schools to increase foster youth placement opportunities.
• Research and vet technical school opportunities for youth.
Maintain Life Coach operating objectives

• Ensures personal performance responding to youth on caseload and that of supervised Life Coaches to achieve annual objectives.
• Organize and provide regular training and weekly youth staffing meetings to ensure Life Coach Expectation Guidelines (LCEG) are being delivered throughout the year to include financial literacy training, career assessments, job/apartment finding and study skills, etc.
• As issues arise among life coach caseload, participate in problem solving to achieve likely solutions.
• Network and maintain relationships with foster friendly employers and landlords to build a continual pipeline of available employment and housing opportunities for youth.
• See that life coaches regularly connect youth with school-year and summer employment opportunities.
• Recruit and provide training for FaithBridge volunteers willing to serve YO participants as mentors to increase their confidence and encourage their continued progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience: Three-Five (3-5) years supervisory experience required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services Field (i.e., Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Science, or other related degree) required. Master’s Degree in Human Services field preferred. Three years of experience in child welfare preferred. Good Clinical knowledge, particularly in the areas of childhood trauma, family-systems, youth, and substance abuse. Strong coaching/counseling and crisis intervention skills. Experience with GA Score and Shines preferred, but not required.

Skill Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills, maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in clients, staff, foster parents and families served. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Ability to handle job-related matters in a professional, diplomatic and confidential manner. Knowledge of community resources and services. Ability to organize and execute responsibilities in an independent manner. Knowledge of normal business computer skills. Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and video conferencing.

Physical Requirements: Hearing and speaking ability which allows for effective oral communication of information. Ability to physically transport self and clients to various locations. Physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job-related issues and stress.
