Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Assist in the daily living activities of kids in a mental health setting.
Department: Milieu Operations
Job Status: Full-time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Program Supervisor
Salary or Hourly Rate: $15.50/hour + shift differentials Amount of Travel Required: N/A
Work Schedule: 2nd & 3rd Shift
Positions Supervised: N/A

Job Overview: As a DSP, you will be instrumental in actively supporting the day-to-day needs of the individuals we serve. Also, a DSP helps to ensure the atmosphere of the individuals served is safe while they receive treatment for serious emotional and behavioral challenges. Accurate documentation is paramount. In addition to caring for the individuals, documentation is essential for the individuals and the staff.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • DSPs assist in the daily living activities of the individuals we serve.
  • DSPs offer emotional support and behavior support.
  • DSPs guide the individuals with health & hygiene management, cleaning, and recreational activities.
  • DSPs help to maintain a safe & therapeutic treatment environment.
  • DSPs maintain accurate documentation. (e.g. – shift reports, incident reports, and individual progress reports.

    Qualifications
  • Complete The Diana Screen. This assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
  • HS diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience preferred working with individuals under the age of 21 with various disorders.
  • Valid Driver’s License, Satisfactory Drug Screen, and Background Check results.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Complete a two-week, PAID new hire orientation class, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM daily (lunch included)
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination (fully), or have an approved medical or religious exemption prior to starting.
  • Strong technical skills & comfortable utilization of in-house computer applications.
